FLOW-3D HYDRO is one of the most powerful tools available to analyze complex free surface and confined flow problems out there today. It provides an easy-to-use modeling interface and has been an integral tool in the design of hydroelectric, environmental, water resource and treatment related projects I’ve worked on over the last 15+ years. Flow Science’s technical support team and developers are easy to work with and are eager to provide advice, hear input from its users on potential enhancements to the code as well as quickly resolving issues that arise. The entire team at Flow Science have been great to work with and are a great resource to all engineers.

We recently went from a drawing on a napkin to the geometry created and simulation running within 8 hours. I don’t know exactly what it was like before we started using FLOW-3D CAST, but it takes 6 to 7 weeks minimum for tooling design changes to be made by our pattern maker. Take multiples of that, plus more depending on the part and how many design iterations it would take to get a good pattern. With FLOW-3D CAST, we usually get it right on the first try now. It’s huge for our business.

FLOW-3D HYDRO is a sophisticated tool that provides insight into complex hydraulic problems that would be difficult to visualize or quantify with other software. Despite the sophistication, the software is very user friendly, and Flow Science provide great documentation and technical support. The results we have obtained from our FLOW-3D HYDRO models have impressed both our clients and non-modelers in-house.

At 4C-Technologies we have been pioneers in using various software flow simulation solutions for nearly 35 years. We optimize part designs and tool/runner designs on casted HPDC parts in various metal alloys. Since 2008 we have solely been using FLOW-3D CAST as it turned out to give by far the best accuracy. Furthermore, the support from the FLOW-3D CAST team is outstanding.

We have used FLOW-3D AM to model additive manufacturing processes to complete our projects. This software contains advanced modules and databases that distinguish it from other commercial software. It is also very user-friendly, with numerous tutorials and examples to help users get started quickly. We worked with Drs. Ibai Mugica and Marcin Serdeczny from the support team, and they are both excellent and knowledgeable scientists. They are extremely patient when answering questions and clearly explain fundamental/technical concepts. Having worked with various software and support teams over the last seven years, I can tell you that this software and its support team are one-of-a-kind. Keep up the excellent work.

All simulations we have done with FLOW-3D were for the development of this complete new technology. The print heads and inks or toner we have simulated are the core of this technology. At R&D, we are already developing the successors for this machine, and again FLOW-3D simulations are used for the continuous improvement of our own inkjet technology.

I have been using FLOW-3D for 15 years as the primary theoretical tool in design optimization work on drop-on demand type inkjet printheads.
