The 16th FLOW-3D European Users Conference will be held at the Grand Hotel in Kraków, Poland, June 14-16, 2016. We invite all FLOW-3D, FLOW-3D Cast and FLOW-3D/MP users and those interested in learning more about our software products to join us for a stimulating CFD conference.
We are pleased to announce this year’s presenters for the 16th FLOW-3D European Users Conference; their topics and breadth of experience promise an exciting and informative conference. Flow Science customers who use FLOW-3D, FLOW-3D Cast and FLOW-3D/MP as the basis for exciting and innovative research and development will present and discuss their work, including topics such as fuel filling, compound belt casting process, shrinkage and solidification in cast iron castings, environmental modeling, and optimization studies. Speakers from Plastic Omnium, Roche Diagnostics, and Sinotech Engineering Consultants and a variety of leading research institutions, such as Österreichisches Gießerei-Institut, are part of a diverse lineup of presenters. In addition to the work presented by our customers, Flow Science representatives will present current and upcoming developments for the software.
The conference registration fee of 150 € includes the two-day conference, opening reception and conference dinner as well as lunches and morning and afternoon coffee breaks both days of the conference. We have extended the registration rate to Monday, June 6.
Training – Workflow Process Optimization and Customization
A free training will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm in the Mirror Hall of the Grand Hotel. There is no fee to attend the training, but you must sign up when you register for the conference. The training will focus on helping you increase efficiency, take advantage of automation, extend functionality using customization, and learn how to use active simulation control.
- Date: Tuesday, June 14
- Time: 1:00 -5:00 pm
- Where: Mirror Hall in the Grand Hotel
- Recommendations: bring your laptop to follow along
Active Simulation Control
Active simulation control in FLOW-3D is an event-based system integrated into the solver that enables events which trigger actions. Probes can be stationary, move with fluid, or be attached to objects. The probes monitor a number of variables and are assigned conditions in order to create these actions. Probes are applicable to boundary conditions, moving objects, data output, fluid sources, simulation termination and more. This training will teach users how to use probe controlled events and provide a number of useful examples.
Batch Postprocessing and Report Generation
Generating images, animations and numerical data for providing reports to customers can be require a significant amount of time. Using FLOW-3D’s batch postprocesing functionality along with the option to generate reports saves a significant amount of time and helps avoid repetitive work. Training on batch postprocessing and report generation will teach users how to automate the creation of graphic and numeric results and place them in an HTML report file.
Customizing FLOW-3D to Expand Capability
FLOW-3D provides many source routines as a means of adding to or enhancing the existing functionality of our solver. Customizations can range from modifying fluid properties, to interacting with moving objects, to calculating quantities not currently available in FLOW-3D. Customization training will teach users the core concepts required for writing routines to access arrays and variables and how to iterate through mesh cells containing various items such as fluids or solids.
The conference will commence with an opening reception, the evening of Tuesday, June 14. Flow Science would like to invite all conference attendees and their guests for a welcome aperitif and appetizers in the Mirror Hall at the Grand Hotel. The reception is from 18:00-20:00.
The conference dinner will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at Morskie Oko at 19:00. All conference attendees and their guests are invited to this free event, and you can sign up to attend when you register online. The restaurant is a short walk from the conference hotel and directions will be provided in your conference folder.
