The XDB files are datasets like any other file and can be compared against other datasets whether full volume data or XDB files. The files don’t even have to maintain matching time sequences as FieldView will manage the multi-temporal data and match up the sequences. Below is a sample workflow for a FLOW-3D casting simulation.
New graphics technologies are producing tremendous increases in performance. With FieldView 13, we can sweep through the entire transient filling sequence at over 18 frames per second on a laptop. Reading the XDB data files on the same laptop required just 32 seconds (18 timesteps) where reading the original volume data required 25 minutes. This can save hours of engineer’s and project schedule time each day.
