How long have you worked for Flow Science?
What was it about Flow Science that attracted you?
Interesting application and people
What is the best part of your job?
A lot of good object oriented software design and implementation
What are some of the most interesting projects you have worked on?
Since I started working here, the biggest project I have worked on is the design and implementation of the foundation underlying the FLOW-3D model setup. This new foundation has greatly improved the stability of the user interface and will allow us to make future improvements easily. Some of the features that I have worked on for the next release of FLOW-3D are support for tabular temperature data and standardizing the overall look and feel of our user interface. Most recently, I have been working on the user interface for fluid-structure interaction mesh generation.
What do you think about when you are designing a user interface?
- Is the design user-friendly and intuitive?
- Does the design allow the user perform the task(s) that he or she needs?
- Does it have a consistent look and feel and does the layout look nice?
Who has had the greatest influence on you and why?
It’s hard to say who has had the most influence. The most important ones are my kids, husband, and parents. My husband has given me support and stability and my kids always remind me what is *really* important in life. My parents have influenced me to always give everything my best effort.
You have four children and work full-time here at FSI—how do you manage to juggle it all?
It’s difficult at times. I don’t know if I manage anything...everything just kind of happens! I just try to take it one day at a time.
You're a coffee enthusiast—where is the best place to snag a latte in the afternoon?
What is on your reading list? Do you have a recent favorite?
I don’t get a lot of time for reading. Lately my reading list has included Ramona and Beezus and the Magic Tree House series.
What is your favorite pastime?
Right now, it’s watching my kids' soccer games. I have also recently taken up running, and have been working hard to improve my 5K time.
What are your important accomplishments?
Raising four kids
How would you describe yourself?
What helps you get out of bed each morning?
Who has the best New Mexican food in Santa Fe?
