Little Akhil Kakollu
Satya Kakollu and Archana Kolla welcomed their first child, Akhil, into the world on January 8, 2007. Both mother and child are doing well.
Congratulations Satya and Archana! And welcome, Akhil!
Users Site Additions
We’ve created a new download page on our FLOW-3D Users Site. This new page makes available most of the input files for the examples we show in the Applications section of our web site. To access this new page, click on "New!! Input Files" on the main page of the Users Site. We will continue to add input files, so be sure to check back in for new files.
FLOW-3D V9.2 Beta
A beta release of Version 9.2 is available for download on the Users Site. Take an early try with what's to come in our V9.2 release. Increased speedup with Unstructured Memory Allocation, especially for casting problems; improvements to the GUI, such as standardized mouse modes and user-definable display settings for post-processing; and our new GMO Collision Model that allows moving objects to interact with other solid objects are just a few of the many exciting improvements and new features in V9.2.
To download the beta, click on “New!! Beta V9.2” on the main page of the Users Site. Presently, only a Windows version is available, in 32 and 64 bit, but a Linux beta is planned for later release.
Note: The FLOW-3D Users Site is available only to users under a maintenance agreement. To request login information for the Users Site, please email us.
Reminder: Unix Support to be Dropped in 2008
Another reminder for users running FLOW-3D on Unix workstations: Effective with our release in 2008, Flow Science plans to cease support for all Unix operating systems. After that date, users may continue to run prior versions of FLOW-3D on those platforms but upgrades and technical support will not be provided.
In addition, with the release of Version 9.2, we will be dropping support for the following platforms:
- IBM AIX 4.3 32-bit
- SGI IRIX 6.5 32-bit
- RedHat Linux v7 & v8 32-bit (Absoft compiler)
- RedHat Linux v9 32-bit (Absoft compiler)
- 32-bit Windows compiled with Compaq Visual Fortran
When Version 9.2 is released, users with Linux operating systems will need to have RedHat Enterprise 3 or above, for either 32-bit or 64-bit. Also, users that wish to customize FLOW-3D will need to have an Intel compiler for Linux. Windows users on either Intel x86 processors, 32 or 64 bit or AMD Opteron processors will likewise need the Intel compiler for customizing.
The next scheduled dates for FLOW-3D training are February 13-16, 2007 (no seats available), April 3-6, 2007 and June 5-8, 2007.
