Letter from the Editor

If you are like most of us, you are bombarded every day with information about improving your health from TV, the Internet, newspapers & magazines and random comments from friends. I'm sorry to have to tell you that this issue of the FLOW-3D News will also be introducing you to healthful information.

Our lead application article concerns aquaculture. Specifically, how to increase the production of shell fish that will provide you with an alternative to red meat. As this article points out there are many issues associated with water flow, from the delivery of food to the removal of waste, which must be addressed to have a successful production of seafood.

Another article will be of interest to those of you who engage in extreme endurance running, for example, marathons in Death Valley. The general moving object (GMO) capability introduced in the latest release of FLOW-3D, Version 9.0, has been further extended to include heat conduction in moving objects and heat transfer with their surroundings. This means you will now be able to dynamically model the melting of your running shoes.

The most healthful news is that our modeling program and our customers are both continuing to explore new territories offering unexpected riches.
