Letter from the Editor
We hear about agents in many different contexts. There is a new secret agent (spy) museum in Washington, D.C., personal agents are touted as the next big advance for web searching, and of course, many of us have experience with real estate and law enforcement agents. previous copies of the News have presented a number of uses for scalar variables, but it seems that the full power and utility of these variables is not universally appreciated. In this issue of the News we present many ideas and examples for uses of scalar variables as agents to be called upon for a wide rage of modeling capabilities.
Take time to get to know these agents; they will reduce your workload, help solve problems, and provide useful insight into complex flow simulations. Also, if you have a novel use for a scalar variable that we haven't thought of, please send it to us so that we can share it with other users.
