Winter 2001Comings & Goings
Sad, but true, the world is full of vice. Flow Science is no exception. However, in our case we welcome it in the form of the appointments of Robin Berry as Vice President for Finance and Human Resources and John Ditter as Vice President for Engineering and Support. Congratulations!
Congratulations are also due Aman Khan of Unipath Ltd. in the U.K. who was awarded a Ph.D. degree from the University of Hertfordshire in September, 2001. Dr. Khan used FLOW-3D for an integral part of his thesis research dealing with transient free-surface flows.
The second FLOW-3D World User’s Conference was held in Santa Fe, NM on September 24-25. Although the terrible events of September 11th imposed a sober atmosphere, there was still an enthusiastic exchange of ideas and experiences between all the attendees.
Another September date will also go down in history. On September 26th, Flow Science held its first ever FLOW-3D Advanced Training Class. Participants were treated to a smorgasbord of techniques to improve their computations as well as their understanding of physical models, numerical methods, and interpretations of output. By all accounts class members went home filled with juicy tidbits and tasty morsels of simulating knowledge – watch for it to be offered again.
