2014 FLOW-3D Americas Users Conference

The 2014 FLOW-3D Americas Users Conference will be held September 9-10, 2014 in Toronto, ON at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Toronto. Advanced training for the water & environmental industry will be held Monday, September 8 at the conference hotel. All FLOW-3D, FLOW-3D/MP, and FLOW-3D Cast users—and anyone interested in the FLOW-3D product suite—are invited to attend the conference.

The conference will commence with an opening reception and poster session, the evening of Monday, September 8. Flow Science would like to invite all conference attendees and their guests for a welcome aperitif and appetizers at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Toronto. The reception will begin at 6:00 pm.

Call for Abstracts for Presentations and Posters!

The call for abstracts is now open. Share your experiences, present your success stories and obtain valuable feedback from your fellow FLOW-3D users and Flow Science staff. Abstracts should be 250 words or less and include the title of the presentation or poster, author(s) name(s), job title, and company/institution name. Presentations and posters should focus on benchmarks, validations, practical examples, and case studies using FLOW-3D, FLOW-3D/MP, or FLOW-3D Cast. If there are multiple authors, please list the presenter first. MS Word format is preferred. The deadline to submit an abstract is Friday, July 11. Notifications of presentation and poster acceptance will be sent out on Friday, July 25. If you are interested in presenting or creating a poster, please email your abstract to us.

Conference Registration

Online registration for the conference is now available. Conference registration will be waived for one presenter per presentation. The early-bird registration fee of 100 USD includes the two-day conference, opening reception and conference dinner as well as morning and afternoon coffee breaks. Complimentary wi-fi will be available in the meeting room.

Free Advanced Training for the Water & Environmental Industry

Flow Science will offer a 1/2 day session of advanced FLOW-3D training for the water & environmental industry on Monday, September 8 at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Toronto. The training will focus on the completely new sediment 3-D and 2-D shallow water scour models in FLOW-3D v11, hybrid 3-D/2-D shallow-water modeling for large domains, efficient model and project workflows for hydraulics problems, and hints and tips for using FlowSight™, FLOW-3D's new post-processing and visualization tool. Attendees can sign up for the training when they register online.

The official conference hotel is the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Toronto. We have negotiated a special rate of 179 CAD/night, plus taxes. This rate includes wi-fi internet access and is good 3 days before and after the conference dates based on availablity at the hotel. Because the conference will be held during the Toronto International Film Festival, we encourage attendees to make their reservations as early as possible. The deadline to reserve a room at this rate is Wednesday, August 13, 2014.

Abstract Information

Notifications of presentation acceptance will be sent out on Friday, July 25. Presentation and Poster Information

Presentations

Presentation formats can be either a PowerPoint file or a file format that can be opened in PowerPoint. Final presentations are due Monday, August 25. Each presenter will have a 30 minute speaking slot — 20 minutes for presenting and 10 minutes for Q & A. Please contact us if you have any questions about presenting at the conference. Please email us your presentation or to request a link to our FTP DropBox.

Posters

FLOW-3D users who submitted a poster idea will be notified if their idea has been accepted on Friday, July 25. The poster session will be held concurrently with the opening reception on Monday, September 8 at 6:00 pm. Once the conference is over, the posters will then travel around the world to be displayed at the FLOW-3D user conferences in Asia. Poster participants will need to bring their final printed posters to the opening reception/poster session on Monday, September 8 between 5:00-5:30 pm. If Flow Science is printing your poster, it is due no later than Monday, August 25. Please contact Flow Science for a template for your poster or with any questions you might have.

Making a Poster

Do you want to make a poster, but don't know where to start? Here's a poster website where you can download free templates and tutorials about how to create a poster. Posters should be no larger than 4 feet wide by 3 feet high. Flow Science will provide adhesives to apply your poster to the posterboards at the conference.
