Simulating Ship Ventilation

FLOW-3D simulation of ship ventilation
Ventilation in a ship's engine room

What happens outside the ship is not the only area of interest for maritime engineers; the ventilation of internal compartments, especially engine rooms where heat generation can affect both performance and comfort, must also be considered. FLOW-3D has been used to improve the efficiency of cooling systems, maintain a specified temperature differential between interior compartments and the external environment as well as a maximum internal average temperature.
