Sedimentary successions of ancient gravity-flow deposits are important reservoir rock hosting hydrocarbon resources in many parts of the world, which renders the submarine mass flow processes to be a considerable interest to petroleum explorationists.

Reliable numerical modeling of sediment gravity flows and their deposits can be accomplished with FLOW-3D, including:

• Simulate transport and spatial distribution of sedimentary deposits
• Test play concepts and reduce uncertainty
• Improve understanding of mass flow processes
• Identify preservation and distribution of permeability barriers
• Model complex reservoir heterogeneities
