Spin Coating

Spin coating is the preferred method for applying thin, uniform films to flat substrates. The fluid is placed onto the substrate, which is then rotated at high speed in order to spread the fluid by centrifugal force. Rotation is continued until the desired film thickness is achieved, with fluid being spun off the edges of the substrate. The process concludes with evaporative drying.

Problems can arise in each stage which might prevent the desired result of perfectly flat, high-quality, coatings. FLOW-3D can be used to assist the engineer in working out solutions.
