FLOW-3D Helps Microscopic Bubbles Switch Fiber-Optic Circuits

FLOW-3D simulation of a switching platform

Computer simulation played a critical role in understanding and solving a problem with microscopic bubbles in a revolutionary switch used to switch optical signals in fiber-optic circuits. Agilent senior scientist John Uebbing used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to simulate the bubble. Further simulations helped the researchers validate two different methods of altering the device to give stable signals. Read more about modeling a switching platform >

FLOW-3D offers everything you need for powerful, accurate simulations

FLOW-3D assists engineers investigating the dynamic behavior of liquids and gases in a wide range of industrial applications and physical processes. FLOW-3D specializes in the solution of time-dependent (transient), free-surface problems in one, two and three dimensions, but is also capable of modeling confined flows and steady-state problems.
