Pressure-Driven Inkjets

Simulation of a pressure-driven inkjet
Xerox uses FLOW-3D to design
pressure-driven inkjets. The animation
shows the formation of ink drops from
a pressure-driven inkjet nozzle.

FLOW-3D can be used to study how the shape of the ejected droplet is affected by parameters such as the driving pressure pulse, the shape of the nozzle, the surface tension coefficient and more.

Shown on the left is an example of the formation of a droplet from a pressure-driven nozzle, where the upstream pressure history has been specified.
